About the Event
There are many causes of lower limb wounds but we will discuss the most commonly seen – Venous, Arterial and mixed disease ulcers. We will explore medical and surgical history and vascular assessment in order to aid in diagnosis. You will identify to classical features of each and then discuss the pathways of management, including compression therapy.
Some wounds, especially on the lower limb, can be hard to heal. Leg wounds can be caused by inflammatory conditions or auto immune issues. We will tackle also the care of palliative wounds or wounds deemed to be non healable in a relatively healthy person. Naturally to start we need to cover off on the normal then embark on the abnormal. We encourage you also to bring along photos of your hard to heal wounds for discussion and the setting of clinical pathways to assist in providing comfort and reducing risk of infection.
