About the Event
Pressure causes pressure injuries- there is no questioning this statement.
With this knowledge why are we still seeing these—surely the nurses do pressure reduction/turning rounds? Mattresses, overlays, seating cushions and booties are available to reduce the pressure—so why are they still prevalent, is their prevalence increasing and if so why?
What are the risk factors nurses should be looking out for, what action to take when risk is identified and what to do once a PI or IAD is identified. How to classify such injuries and management plans thereafter will be discussed.
Concerns regarding meeting Aged Care Quality indicators relating to pressure injury and IAD will also be explored.
